Planning Your Garden? Be Mindful of Plants that are Toxic to your Pets

Ahhh. . . the sun, dirt, mulch, breeze and a little May muscle grease and WA LA! you have a beautiful New England garden in July.

Gardening can be a lot of fun but its important to be mindful that some of those beautiful flowers and plants may be very toxic to your pets.  For your reference, please note the plants that may be toxic to your critters.

Happy Gardening!

Refer a Friend and Earn free Daycare!

Do both you and your dog love Fenway Bark?  Do you recommend Fenway Bark to your friends, family, dog park colleagues, and co-workers?

Well, it has never been a better time to harness that enthusiasm for Fenway Bark because for the next 8 days, ending May 7, if you recommend Fenway Bark to a new client and they purchase a 20 day daycare package, you will receive 3 free days of daycare (a $126 value).  If your referral results in a 60 day daycare purchase, you will receive 5 free days of daycare (a $210 value)!  You can keep the daycare for yourself or share it with the new client!

We have postcards, new brochures, stickers, and more you can use to spread the word and encourage your friends to check us out.

Now is a great time to refer to us because we will officially be ready to open our 3rd daycare area later this week, giving us additional daycare capacity to meet the growing needs of our clientele.

The offer is available for bringing new clients to Fenway Bark only and doesn't have a cash redemption value.

And as always, thank you for your kind words and your valued recommendations.

Fenway Bark Prom King and Queen Update

The nomination and voting period continues for the Fenway Bark Prom King and Queen through Memorial Day!  Tis the season where all young romances, human and canine alike, set their sites on Prom.  Your pup may not be a cheerleader, class President, or the football team's quarterback but what he/she lacks in high school hallway clout, he/she may make up in pure charm and cuteness.

Nominate your dog and get out the vote for your pup!  The winners receive a one night stay in a Luxury Box (i.e., each, we don't offer chaperones) and a photo session with Dawgma Gallery!  A set of prizes worth well over $350 each!

Meet Sally!

Meet Sally!  Sally came to us for fostering last week from Great Dog Rescue of New England.  She is about 6 months old and couldn't be sweeter.  She loves to be petted and has mastered giving hugs to those who give her affection.  If you are interested in adopting Sally, please contact Great Dog Rescue of New England.

Please help keep Fenway Bark's guests healthy!

To keep the guests in our care as healthy and safe as possible, we thoughtfully request that if your dog has been diagnosed with a flea infestation, intestinal parasites or communicable bacterial or viral infection, that you remedy the situation before bringing your dog back into our daycare or boarding environment.  Let us know when you need to cancel standing reservations because of illness.

If your dog has been diagnosed with an intestinal parasite (e.g., giardia, hookworm, roundworm, tapeworm), please seek treatment through your veterinarian and have your dog retested via a fecal exam before returning to our care.  We will need to receive a copy of the negative fecal test results upon your dog's return.  Some intestinal parasites are easily transferred to both dogs and humans and it is very important that we keep both as healthy as possible.

Likewise, it is important for you to communicate to us any injuries, sore spots, or other we need to be mindful of for the comfort of your pet.

As warmer weather allows for more time outdoor time, it also provides the possibility of exposure to ticks, fleas, and other hazards.  Please keep your dog from drinking standing water to reduce the possibility of leptospirosis and also re-direct your dog from other dog's waste that may contain communicable parasites.

Thank you so much for helping us by doing your part to keep every guest safe while in both our and your care.

Warmly,

Jane

Jackson Found and Back Home Thanks to the Fenway Bark Family!

We are delighted to report that another client who lost their dog and called us to help find him has reunited with her dog after he went on a multiple day adventure around South Boston.  It was through the efforts of the Fenway Bark community and Facebook fans that Jackson was able to return safely to his home.

Thanks to everyone who shared the posting on Facebook, looked in the neighborhood, or put up a poster to help someone in need.  It is amazing what can be achieved when people care enough to help someone in need.  On behalf of both Fenway Bark and Jackson's family, Thank You!!!

Meet Pepper!

Meet Pepper!  Pepper has been a foster at Fenway Bark for the past few weeks.  She came to us incredibly shy and we have worked with her to build her confidence and her social skills.  We feel Pepper is ready to go to her forever home now.  If you are interested in adopting Pepper, please contact Great Dog Rescue of New England.  Although Pepper would probably be OK in a home as the only dog, she enjoys the company of other dogs so much that we feel the best fit would be a home with another dog.

Meet Marilyn!

Meet Marilyn!  Marilyn will be fostered at Fenway Bark in the upcoming weeks after she is spayed.  If you are interested in adopting Marilyn, please contact Great Dog Rescue of New England!

Meet Bebe!

Meet Bebe!  She will be one of our new foster dogs from Great Dog Rescue of New England.  Bebe will be arriving in the coming week and we look forward to helping her find her forever home.  If you are interested in adopting Bebe, please contact Great Dog Rescue of New England.

Our One Year Anniversary

It is hard to believe that we are at our one year anniversary of opening our daycare and boarding business!

Opening a small business is not for the faint of heart and opening one in a down economy with a fresh approach to an established industry may have made us certifiably loco.  That said, the business model, our approach and Fenway Bark's services have clearly resonated with pet families throughout New England.  We continue to grow through the kind recommendations of you, our satisfied customers.

Thank you!

In the first year, Fenway Bark:

- has served more than 1200 four legged customers
- has provided services for customers stretching from California to Florida to many of our closest neighbors who live just a block or two away or work in the same building
- was recognized as one of the top daycare facilities in the United States by Fido Friendly magazine in July 2011, and one of the top 50 dog destinations in the World
- appeared on Chronicle, Fox TV, and Dr. Jake's segment on NECN
- was featured in Stuff, London Times, Boston Globe, and more
- helped place over a dozen homeless dogs for Great Dog Rescue of New England
- created 14 jobs in the South Boston market
- welcomed The Pawsitive Dog, Dawgma Gallery, and Zen Animal Massage into the Fenway Bark to enhance our portfolio of services

And although we faced some difficult challenges in the first year, many of which felt like they were played out in, well, dog years, it was the customers who embraced the business so strongly, our family and friends, and our talented employee team that was the wind under our wings to keep us going, even through the most difficult times.  No doubt the joy of caring for your wonderful pets also fueled our resolve.

Thank you for your support and your continued business.

We love our customers.  Our anniversary is your anniversary!
