Throw A Dog a Bone - Please vote today

We need your help with your vote.

Taking 10 seconds to vote could mean a $250,000 grant for us.  We are not quite at the half way mark of votes we need to qualify with only days left.  Its super simple to do, doesn't cost you a thing, and it is a really good opportunity for us.

Here is what you need to do:

1) Go to: www.missionsmallbusiness.com
2)  Register through Facebook or Twitter
3)  Search for "Fenway Bark"
4)  Vote for us

That's it.  Really.

Small business isn't easy, that's for sure.  A $250,000 grant will go a long way in small business.

Thank you for your small devotion of time, your vote, and your confidence in us.

Traffic Patterns Through July 9

The Boston Seaport is a bustling location for the summer and with that, we are learning quickly that road closures due to events in the Seaport are occurring as arbitrarily as a winning starting pitcher for a certain team (yes, I said it).

With that, we encourage you for the next 3 weeks or so to use Dry Dock Ave to Black Falcon to avoid one of these arbitrary-don't-care-if-businesses-are-impacted-one-bit closures.

On the other hand, if you are interested in attending one of the many events in the Seaport area, and want to use our much beloved evening care service from 6 pm to 11 pm, remember you can park your car at Fenway Bark and walk to your event.  Our evening care is $24 and last time I checked parking in the Seaport, it was $25 for the evening.  Use that extra dollar to buy your pup a duck foot one of our other treats!

No Hot Dogs at Fenway Bark!

It might have been steamy outside last week but inside Fenway Bark the pup were all nice and cool.  Just like their human families, dogs like to enjoy a frozen treat once in a while.  On the hottest days of last week, many of our climate controlled canines enjoyed Yoghunds in the privacy of their own rooms.  Yoghunds, frozen peanut butter kongs, frozen yogurt kongs, and raw marrow bones are always available for purchase for your pup while in our care.

Summer Romances at Fenway Bark

Marvin didn't know when he flew across the country from Seattle to live in Boston that at his first stop, Fenway Bark, he would fall in love.  Marvin loves Lily.  He really, really loves Lily.  When he sees Lily, no other dogs matter to him.  Perhaps it is the way she says "Arf" without the "r" or that she likes a baseball team with a DH, whatever the reason, he is in love.  And doesn't everyone like a good puppy love story to start their week?

Fenway Bark Calendar of Events

June 23 and 30 - Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience classes, 10 am and 11 am
June 21 and 28 - Puppy Kindergarten and Basic Obedience classes, 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm
July 24 - 6 pm - When Your Dog is Sick in Middle of Night:  Homeopathy for First Aid - Loretta Butehorn

Traffic Patterns June 29 - July 9

Fenway Bark is in the heart of the Tall Ships celebration June 29 - July 9.  During this time Cruise ships, Cirque de Soleil, Bank of America Pavilion, and the Tall Ships will all be generating a lot of traffic in the area and Seaport Blvd will have limited access the entire week and will close completely on the 4th of July.

To that end, we strongly encourage you to use Dry Dock Ave to Black Falcon the entire window of the Tall Ships celebration.  We also encourage you to plan additional time to get to and from Fenway Bark.  We will do our best to alert you to special circumstances that may effect your commute.

Parking at Fenway Bark will be limited to only employees and guests using our services.  We can not accommodate parking for guests who use our services at other times of the year but want to be in the heart of all the festivities.

Yoghund for your pup?

Is your dog participating in daycare or boarding during the heat wave?  Order up a Yoghund for your pooch on a hot day to make your dog more comfortable.  Just ask the concierge or click on the link to send an email to the concierge to order a round for your pup!

Say No to "Hot" Dogs!

The next three days may be a heat wave for the New England record books and with that comes the responsibility of keeping your pet safe from the heat. Not taking the right precautions can endanger your pet.

1)  Always keep abundant fresh water available for your pets.
2)  Do not keep your dog in a parked vehicle where the heat can climb quickly and potentially kill your pet due to organ damage.
3)  If your dog has a thick coat of fur, consider a summer cut.  We have capacity on Wednesday for a few more dogs for summer cuts.  Call the concierge at 617-464-4364 to make an appointment.
4)  Do not expose your dog to asphalt any longer than absolutely necessary.  Asphalt retains heat and remember, your pets are a lot closer to the ground than you.
5)  If you use a pet walking service, give instructions about what you expect in terms of adjustments to exposure to asphalt and the elements.
6)  If you own a business with foot traffic, put out some water for our four legged friends.

Fenway Bark's ocean front location keeps your dog nice and cool with ocean breezes and low exposure to asphalt.

Does your dog like to jump in the water?  Our bone shaped pool is available for all the dogs on our large lawn.

Stay safe!  For more tips, see MyDogIsCool.com.

Summer Traffic Patterns for Fenway Bark

Driving Suggestions:

With Cirque du Soleil at the Marine Industrial Park until mid July, Harborfest coming in July, and cruise ships arriving over the next 5 months, please make note of suggested driving directions on our white board based on events in the area.

In general, you may want to avoid Northern Blvd between now and mid July, especially in the evenings, while Harborfest and Cirque du Soleil is in town.  Taking Dry Dock Ave to Black Falcon Ave will be more efficient in the evening during this time.

During Harborfest the City of Boston will be closing parts of Northern Blvd down to the public for an entire week.  It will be necessary to arrive via Dry Dock Ave during Harborfest.  Please make note.

All that said, Fenway Bark is in the heart of all the action, including the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, the Blue Angels, the turning of all Ironsides outside our windows, the Tall Ships and more!  If you are going to be enjoying Harborfest, you can leave your dog with us for daycare and walk right into the days activities from our front door.  Park your car for free at Fenway Bark if you have a 60 day daycare package in place.
